Musical Motivator

Alright you caught me. I've been avoiding the blog.
I didn't want to tell you how much of nothing is getting done.
My big plans have amounted to almost zilch.
Some shaky sign lessons and a free concert made a dent in my laziness.
Otherwise I'm still dragging my feet when I should be stepping up.

If you've ever heard Casting Crowns in person you know the tickets aren't free.
Tickets for this performance were quickly spoken  for and actually sold out.
Which of my Star Wars related powers got me through the door?
None of them, I'm not an undercover member of the Jedi Knights.

 The secret word is sponsorship.
For five years I have gladly supported a young lady named Valeria.
I first got to know her by choosing to be her World Vision sponsor.
As a sponsor you are told about Christian events and volunteer opportunities.
A short training session, a few questions and one seriously orange apron are all it takes.
The energy of a great Concert and several newly sponsored children gave me new motivation.

Finish line

I reached the end of my first challenge a few days ago.
Yes, after eight weeks of work I'm buying the T-shirt.
The pala award is behind me.
I have stepped into a new level the Presidents Champions.

Moving on to new business the second challenge is for my mind.
In this event I am returning to lessons in Spanish and Sign language.
I have been lazy in studying these subjects and in Keyboard as well.
The reason for this goal is to become consistent in my work.
Consistence begins Monday September 26.

Meantal Makeover

Six weeks of the first challenge are now behind me.
In a few weeks I will be an eight week Pala winner.
My night owl complex is almost under control.
Now we move on to becoming consistent and staying focused.

As a part of renewing my study time I've started a mental makeover.
Sometimes there's too much garbage in my head.
Unchecked garbage recently left me in a brain fog of negative thoughts, words, and attitudes.
While curing my negative noggin I began reading" Battlefield of the mind" in chapter size doses.
I'm glad to report that the fog is clearing . I will continue my medicine by reading "Right and wrong thinking".

The Eagles nest

I wanted to use a new name. All of our ministries have names like Zone or Loft.
The post written by The Mighty yawp made me want to say a few things.
Seven of my kids moved into The Zone yesterday.
Major props go out to Aaron,Brody,Carley,Eli, Hazel, Max and Jackson.

I may have had to correct you sometimes but I love you and will never hurt you.
I'm still watching out for you and am here if you need me.
May each of you belong to God all of your lives and prosper in Him.
Be sure you never miss any of the plans He has for you.

Mentioning the children  brings me to the final reason for challenging myself.
I want to become a better example.
I shouldn't have let myself be slack in so many areas.
It isn't good that my own study time has slipped when I'm teaching.

They shouldn't be seeing me slam back a whole cup of cookies in one bite.
I have no ecuuse for coming to class grouchy tired or unprepared.

Rip van Weekday

No I did not fall asleep for twenty years.
I've been up before noon two days and counting.
That's definite progress, I've already started getting things done.
I'll have to get use to this new invention called morning.
The citizens of Amberica are use to sleeping in.

Another reason for this challenge isn't just physical it's preparation.
I'm nowhere near fighting shape and have no desire to be a toothpick.
Being out of condition means lack of excellence.
I cough or lose my breath in mid verse and my high notes would make a wolf howl.
How can I do everything I'm made for if I can't take care of myself?

Pointless problems

This week marks the half way point of my eight week fitness challenge.
Instead of  workout updates I want to share a few of my reasons for starting.
I've been disappointed in myself for doing less than I can.
Pointless habits burn a lot of my time.
Hopefully breaking off my old ways will put disappointment to rest.

First up on the chopping block I'm a championship night owl and TV addict.
This leaves my days and nights backward so I miss a lot of valuable daylight.
I also need major recharge time and lose the chance to make a difference in every day.

Borring be gone

I spent most of last week on weight lifting and honestly its gotten to be a drag.
In an attempt to be drag free I'm returning to Archery while I look for other options.
At least this is something I know I can do.
I'm no good as a hunter it just isn't part of me to do that.
However I was a decent shot at targets only.
I never was a Robbin hood but I can be a merry man again.
Please feel free to make suggestions they're definitely welcome.

Big top drop out

Alright so I haven't posted anything since Tuesday.
You didn't miss much except my clumsy attempts at bad juggling.
Good news Barnum and Bailey I Won't be joining the circus after all.
I'm sure everyone is very happy to hear it. Just kidding about that.
The really good news is that today completes one week of my fitness challenge.
I am proud to tell all of you that by finishing today I've earned my first Pala star.

Wal-mart Wanderer

You could argue that by shopping I've missed my days activity points. That would make you wrong.
In this challenge almost anything counts. My afternoon in the grocery department earned 45 minutes credit .
There was no rush. I had time to think instead of buying whatever caught my eye or fit into my mouth.
I was also able to do some recipe shopping so I'll be sure what I'm eating.
Using my hand weights tonight will give me a 1 hour time score and double the minimum goal.
May this finished challenge lead to further accomplishments.

A silly start

No time spent in preparation is wasted. I wanted to kick start the week with something fun. TATT was still buzzing in my head so I cornered my mom and we took ten minutes doing the Boom-chaca-laca .
This was so I didn't feel like a complete idiot, No need to chaca-laca alone.
For those ten minutes the computer gave me 29 points. I wound the day up with 30 minutes of indoor weight lifting and 131 more points. The daily goal was met and passed. My effort leaves me with 160 Pala points a successful first day finish.

Tripple the Challenge

I have been away from my blog for several months. It's the middle of an Alabama Summer and I'm feeling the need for a challenge. Normally I take on one at a time, this year I aiming for three. Because of a recent comment that I left on Nikki's Nacs the first one is physical. On Monday I begin the six week PALA Challenge.
This is a warm up to my fitness goals and a personal W over past failures.
